Transportation is fundamental for people and our economy. It gives individuals and families access to opportunity, connects us to many of our basic needs, and helps make the economy work. I have worked hard to make our transportation system efficient, sustainable, fair, and safe for everyone, especially the most vulnerable users, such as children and the elderly.
My work on transportation has included the following:
- I have been a member of the EmX Steering Committee, which advises LTD's board. In that position, I have repeatedly advocated for more and better transit, responsible funding and spending, and stronger action on safety (including for pedestrians and bicyclists).
- I served on the citizens advisory committee for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan, our main framework for expanding and improving our bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
- On the City of Eugene Budget Committee, I have pushed for better long-term budget planning to ensure that we have the funds we need to continue our Pavement Preservation Program (our repaving bond measure) and improve street safety.
- As chair of the City of Eugene Sustainability Commission, I pushed for and helped pass our city-wide fossil fuel reduction goal (50% reduction by 2030 from 2005).
